About The Guy Behind This

I'm the guy behind the stuff.

No post in over a month….

Hmmm….lessee’ here……

Probably the biggest news in the last month is that my Grandpa Hoelterhoff passed away. He was suffering from Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, being hard of hearing and I’m not even sure of what else. It was his time. In fact, in my view, the Grandpa that I knew growing up passed away quite a few years ago. The funeral, inurnment, and gathering at Grandma’s went well, although heart breaking. Especially hard was watching the kids understand that their great grandpa had died. On the other hand, it was good to see the family (we missed Christmas last year due to snow storms and illness). We don’t get over there enough.

In lighter news, Eden and Piper are well into school now. Both of them are doing well. Piper is excelling at her activities and Eden seems to be grasping the majority of the first grade curriculum. As always we’re concerned about her speech progress as well as her ADHD. Her medication does seem to be helping and we hope it continues to.

We’ve had a nice cold tear through the house in the last couple of weeks. Megan currently has it and it’s doing a good job of kicking her butt. The kids have had snotty noses and I was stuffed up for a few days too.

Megan and I celebrated our 9th anniversary last week. For our anniversary present, we went to Omaha on the 16th to see the Pixies. Ben and Emily were there and even stayed in the same hotel. The Pixies ended up staying in the same hotel too and we even got some autographs the next morning. It was a nice surprise and a spectacular end to the trip.

That should cover most of it. Unless I think of something else….

Summer is almost gone

Well folks, the girls start school tomorrow. Piper is heading into kindergarten and Eden is beginning her year as a first grader.

Griffin is mighty jealous of his sisters and routinely asks about “his school”.

Through the summer we survived the massive amounts of rain (we did have a few wet spots in the basement, but really, some people in town had 5 feet in their basement), another Ross Family Reunion in Storm Lake (with a complimentary storm of course), a change in my work schedule and the children picking on each other. Griffin has found great satisfaction in picking on his sisters lately.

New videos

There are some new videos on the Videos page.

I particularly recommend the “Nodding off” video.

There are a few more to come as soon as I get them processed and uploaded.

Preschool graduation videos are now arriving. 7/25 5:15 p.m.

All preschool graduation videos are there. 7/27

Parade and Splash Pad

A few photos.

Eden was in the Rock Rapids Heritage Days parade as part of her Little Miss Boyden participation this year. Griffin and Piper had a blast catching candy during the parade.

We’ve also been enjoying quite a bit of time at the town’s splash pad since it was installed.

I have no explanation for Piper’s weird hat/dress combo. Nuthin’.
